In Proceedings of the 1985 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, 7–9 October 1985, 731–736 (1985)

A swath of Seasat SAR imagery 1200 km long was used to generate a spatial series of SAR ocean image spectra in the vicinity of Hurricane Iva. These spectra were corrected for an instrument transfer function. By using a much longer image strip than previous investigators, it is possible to explain the evolution of SAR measured spectra parameters, dominate wavelength and propagation direction, in terms of simple kinematic parameters of the moving hurricane.
