A comparison was made of marine surface pressure analyses using SEASAT wind data, with surface pressure analyses using conventional marine meteorological data. In both cases the analyses were performed manually. The addition of SEASAT wind data resulted in significant changes in the surface analysis. Placement of important meteorological features such as lows, highs, ridges and fronts was improved. It also permitted more accurate determination of pressure gradients. Cols were relatively easy to identify.
