González, F.I., E.N. Bernard, and R.R. Behn

In Proceedings of the International Tsunami Symposium, Victoria, B.C., 6–9 August 1985, 57–61 (1985)

At 2247Z on March 3, 1985, an earthquake of magnitude Ms 7.8 occurred just offshore of Valparaiso, Chile. A low amplitude, Pacific-wide tsunami was generated which was recorded by coastal tide stations in Chile, in Japan, and in the states of Hawaii and Alaska in the U.S. Six Chilean records have been analyzed; first wave arrival times and a spectral analysis of each record are presented in this report.
