FY 1976 Description of a low cost, portable tsunami wave recorder Loomis, H.G. In Proceedings of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics Tsunami Symposium, Bulletin 15, Royal Society of New Zealand, Wellington, New Zealand, 29 January1 February 1974, 9597 (1976) The recent appearance on the market of an electronic solid-state pressure transducer has made possible a very small and convenient portable tsunami wave recorder. The entire unit could be packaged into the unused space inside a Rustrak strip-chart recorder. However, that was not done in the recorder described here, as provisions for electronic filtering of long or short waves were included. The unit can be used for recording tides, tsunamis, and/or short period waves. The unit runs on 18 V dc provided by batteries or a power supply.
