Join the adventure as the scientists and engineers explore the vast and unpredictable waters of the US Arctic. Follow along with stories, pictures and data as we test each technology.

The eastern Bering Sea and US Arctic cover a vast area and we have many scientists and engineers working together who can answer your questions. Want to know more about ice? About the wildlife? About engineering of the technologies? Send us you questions and we’ll reply as quickly as we can!

Fun fact: Each Saildrone has four cameras. The photos below, taken by Saildrone 128, is from a camera looking (from left to right) down, left, right and up. These pictures give engineers situational awareness and general understanding of the weather, cloud cover, and saildrone conditions. They are taken once per hour and sent home in low resolution and are returned via Iridium Satellite.
