Earthquakes Strike off Oregon Coast; No Tsunamis

A series of earthquakes, some with a magnitude of more than 5, have shaken the sea floor off the Oregon coast since Sunday night. None has been large enough to prompt tsunami fears.

No Tsunamis After 4 Earthquakes off Oregon Coast

Four shallow earthquakes hit off of Oregon's coast Sunday night and Monday morning, but weren't large enough to create a tsunami.

When scientists first got the images back from West Mata Volcano, they noticed something odd.  The undersea eruptions from two of the volcano's vents about 4,000 feet below sea level in the Pacific Ocean near Samoa were behaving very differently.
