We are always looking for talented and motivated students and researchers to join our research group. We strive to provide a strong research environment to help undergraduate and graduate students as well as post-doctoral researchers develop their potential and achieve their goals. Below is some information to help you get started.

If you are interested in conducting research in the lab for any of the following positions, please send a message to oar.pmel.genomics@noaa.gov. For more information, please visit https://www.pmel.noaa.gov/career-opportunities.

Undergraduate

We have multiple pathways for undergraduates to join our research lab - either through summer internships or part-time research assistantships during the academic year.

We host summer internships through a variety of programs including the NOAA Hollings Program, NOAA Educational Partnership Program with Minority Serving Institutions (EPP/MSI), NOAA Lapenta Internship Program, UW Earthlab Summer Internship Program, and UW CICOES Internship.

For UW students interested in research involvement during the academic year, there are multiple avenues, including the UW Work-Study Program and UW Student Research Assistant positions. The availability of these opportunities is based on current funding and lab needs. We ask students be willing to make a multiple quarter commitment to the laboratory.

Graduate

We have numerous ways for graduate researchers to join our lab including programs such as NOAA NERTO and NSF GRIP as well as co-advised positions through your graduate institution.

Postdoctoral

The availability of postdoc opportunities is highly dependent upon funding, but we are very willing to work with interested students and researchers in developing competitive grants and postdoctoral fellowship applications. If we have any current listings, they will be listed on https://environment.uw.edu/research/postdoctoral-fellows/open-postdoc-positions/.
