Thanks to a couple of ferret users who gave me a solution.

 

Simply

 

let var1=stfmmc[l=1,d=2,k=1]

let var2=RESHAPE(var1,STFMMC_ATLANTIC[d=1])

 

There was no need to do a @asn.
