  Science Report:
Today was our first ROPOS dive to the bottom at the Cleft segment (dive number 541). ROPOS
was in the water for about 15 hours. The main task for the dive was to position the first 6 of our array of 11 extensometer instruments that will span across the spreading axis of the ridge. ROPOS moved the instruments from the elevator mooring to the instrument bases that were set out last summer. Tonight we will recover the elevator mooring, then fill it up with the rest of the instruments and then sink it again, so that it will be waiting for the next ROPOS dive tomorrow.
