Global Tropical Moored Buoy Array PIRATA High Vertical Resolution Moored ADCP Data 0°, 23°W, October 2008 - June 2009


A Teledyne-RDI Sentinel Workhorse 614.4 kHz ADCP was deployed on a GTMBA ATLAS taut mooring from 2008-10-13 until 2009-06-18 at a nominal location of 0°, 23°W. The ADCP was mounted facing downward on the bridle at 2.5 meters and was configured to measure 2 minute ensemble averages at the top of every hour with a first bin centered at 1.77 meters below the transducer heads. Hourly averages were recorded over 47 bins with a vertical resolution of 0.75 meters, from a depth of 4.27 meters to 38.77 meters. Below you will find links to further documentation and data files in both NetCDF format and Matlab binary format. The NetCDF file contains data which are ready for use, and have been masked to omit problematic data related to acoustic reflections off of shallow instruments on the mooring line. The Matlab files contain the unmasked data, and guidance on how to do your own masking.
