[las_users] RE: [thredds] How to increase the WAIT TIME after request is given. LAS or THREDDS Limitation?

Hello Roland,

Thanks for the response.  Correct our current las.xml has the following:
..
 <properties>

  <product_server>
   <ui_timeout>20</ui_timeout>
   <ps_timeout>3600</ps_timeout>
   <use_cache>true</use_cache>
   <default_dsid>ocean_atlas_subset</default_dsid>
   <default_varid>TEMP-ocean_atlas_subset</default_varid>
   <default_operation>Plot_2D_XY_zoom</default_operation>
   <default_option>Options_2D_image_contour_xy_7</default_option>
   <default_view>xy</default_view>
  </product_server>
..

Although 3600sec is 1 hour.  And the error message below appears after the GUI counter reaches 300 seconds.  I noticed that data in our OPeNDAP server continued to be accessed for that same request.   Do you know if this 300 seconds counter on the GUI side is configured elsewhere?

Also.. when I clicked on the 'request' link from the error message above.  It resubmitted the request and started the processing again.   The returned message after was the following:

Server at Revision rNo version information available.

Thanks,

This is an LAS configuration issue.

In $TOMCAT_HOME/content/conf/sever/las.xml you should find some properties at the top of this file.  Something like this:

  <product_server>
   <ui_timeout>20</ui_timeout>
   <ps_timeout>3600</ps_timeout>
   <use_cache>true</use_cache>
   <default_dsid>ocean_atlas_subset</default_dsid>
   <default_varid>TEMP-ocean_atlas_subset</default_varid>
   <default_operation>Plot_2D_XY_zoom</default_operation>
   <default_option>Options_2D_image_contour_xy_7</default_option>
   <default_view>xy</default_view>
  </product_server>

The value of <ps_timeout> is the maximum number of seconds a single request is allowed to run before the server kills the process.  Try increasing this value and restarting your server.

Hello,

From our PO.DAAC Live Access server link above, we provide long time series for high resolution (ie. 1km, 4km) global daily gridded datasets.

When a user selects Line Plot - time series  covering a long date range of a selected region, LAS responds with a time counter. When it reaches 300 (sec?) it returns an error message about the server.
When a user does the same selection but this time entering their email address for notification (an email is sent 300 secs after submission).  When selecting the link from the email, it returns the same error message.  This typically means that the processing of the request is not yet complete.
Questions:
1) Are there limitations in LAS and/or THREDDS?
2) Is there a way to update the LAS configuration to either:
    a) increase the wait time
    b) trigger email sent when request is "actually" complete.

User Scenario:
Select Dataset:
 Ocean Temperature  -> MODIS Aqua Level 3/ MODIS Aqua Level 3 MID-IR Daily 4km Nighttime
Select LINE PLOTS:  Time Series
Date Range: Jul 04, 2002   -  Jun 01, 2012

Thanks,
Rosanna.
