Two data sets at CDC to be discontinued...

Howdy,

The data sets in the CDC archive called "Reynolds SST' and "Reconstructed
Reynolds SST" will be discontinued on 1 April 2003. If you use these data via DODS (http://www.cdc.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/nph-nc/reynolds_sst/... or .../recon_reynolds_sst/...), please refer to the documentation below to begin using their replacements.

A new OI SST data set (http://www.cdc.noaa.gov/cdc/data.noaa.oisst.v2.html) is
available, which includes a new analysis for the historical data and updates
into the future. NCEP will not provide new data for the "Reynolds SST" after
December 2002 and CDC will remove the "Reynolds SST" data set on 1 April 2003.

A new extended reconstructed SST data set
(http://www.cdc.noaa.gov/cdc/data.noaa.ersst.html) is now available as well.
This data set replaces the "Reconstructed Reynolds SST", which will be removed
from the CDC archive on 1 April 2003.

Please begin using these new data sets as soon as possible. As always,
questions or comments to cdcdata@cdc.noaa.gov
