Re: [ferret_users] Error when saving as pdf using PyFerret v7.5

Hi Becki,

What operating system are you using?  Was this from a conda installation or from another source?  Was this from a displayed plot or using the "-nodisplay" command-line flag.  I just tried this with my build under RHEL7 (making a plot from coads_climatology data) and it worked fine either displayed or with "-nodisplay".

Without the "-nodisplay" command-line flag the Qt library is used to generate the plot; with the"-nodisplay" command-line flag, the Cairographics library is used.  So there might be a chance for different behavior.

Also, with PyFerret, you can specify the plot size (/xinch or /yinch for PDFs) in the frame command, regardless of the size of the original plot.  So would also be interesting to see if leaving off the "/size" option for "set win" makes a difference (adjusting the /isize on set text as needed).

Hi all,

I recently upgraded to PyFerretv7.5 and am having an issue with the pdfs that I am saving being cut off (see attached pdf). Is there something else I need to specify for this PyFerret version when saving images?

I am using the following commands when setting the window and saving the files - these worked perfectly in my previous version of PyFerret7.1

set window 1
set window/asp=0.90/size=2
set text/font=arial/bold/isiz=4

frame/transparent/file = test.pdf

Thank you ahead of time,

Becki
