Re: [ferret_users] Announcing the official release of PyFerret and Ferret version 7.4 for Linux and OSX

I hope to have an update soon to the conda build so that it will use version 7.4.  But I need to work with Filipe on that, especially for the Mac OS X build.

And yes, a Homebrew recipe would ideal for Mac OS X, as that is how I create this package.  Doing this would use your own Homebrew .dylib libraries instead of the ones packaged up in the .tar.gz file and accessed through the DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable (defined in the pyferret script).

Hi Olivier et al.

Is there any chance that Pyferret 7.4 will be available through conda on Mac OS X ?

If any effort is made to produce a package for a modern packaging system (I mean, something beyond .tar.gz), I would say homebrew is better for Mac users because it would install both PyFerret and classical Ferret with a single command.  But I admit I don't know how homebrew and conda interact.
