Re: [ferret_users] Backingstore for animation on the fly

Hi Domingos,
There are other methods for making animations, such as creating a set of gif images and using a tool to animate them. See "Animations, outside tools for" in the Ferret Users Guide index.

 However, you might be able to get the REPEAT/ANIMATE to work.  Try the steps outlined in this message:

Dear all,

I'm trying to do animation but I got the following error message:

yes? repeat/l=1:252/animate/loop=5 (vec uwnd,vwnd)
!-> REPEAT: L=1
 Using every   6th vector in the X direction
 Using every   7th vector in the Y direction
 **ERROR: feature not implemented: Animations require X-server backingstore

I think I need to configure the backingstore of my ferret. What do I need to do?

Cheers,
Domingos.
