Re: [ferret_users] quality of gif/png images

I have never heard of frame/file=filename.png, but gif images have exactly the pixel resolution that you see on the screen.

The quality of gif images can be improved, therefore, by using a larger window; thus increasing the number of pixels. These images can look pretty good when reduced (i.e. you have effectively increased the dpi).

To get true scaleable (vector) graphics, you must create postscript or pdf (set mode metafile; make the plot; ppl clsplt, then use Fprint (from the command line) to make postscript).

Dear ferreters,

I am using the -gif option to create gif/png images, and use

frame/file=file_name.png

When I do this the shaded images are fine but the quality of plotted lines is very poor and the lines get distorted when I print or copy them to word file.
Can anybody help me to get improved quality images.

Is there anything in ferret to control or set the dot per inches (dpi) of the images.

Thanks in advance.

Yadu
