The successful rescue

A cable was attached to one corner of the rumbleometer's base at the one exposed leg. With a strong pull from the ship at the surface the instrument was finally pulled free, floating its way to freedom. The data the rumbleometer recorded is the first glimpse from "ground zero" during a submarine volcanic eruption.

During Classroom Activity #4 would be a great time to play Movie #6 from Part 3 of the NeMO Curriculum. This movie shows the rumbleometer rescue operation. (Note: you will need the Quicktime Plug-in for your web browser).
