Meteorological Data from the First International Polar Year (1881-1884)

  The meteorological data presented here were extracted from the original expedition reports of the first International Polar Year (IPY). While scientific activities associated with the IPY began in some instances in 1881 and extended until 1884, simultaneous observations at all IPY stations are only available for the officially designated year, August 1882 – August 1883. This data was manually keyed by Kevin Wood and Michael Dunlap at the NOAA Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory. Every effort was made to ensure accuracy throughout this process but the possibility of some errors exists. For additional details see notes below.
