Re: [las_users] LAS 8.6.3

What version of Thredds do you recommend for LAS 8.6.3 and Ferret 7.2?  We are currently using Thredds 4.3.23.  In looking at other LAS 8 installations, I see Thredds 4.6.x.

Hi Penny,

The issuehere is that in the installation script for Ferret, there are a number of environment variables set, and we made a change with the Ferret v7.2 release which stopped defining one of those, PLOTFONTS, instead defining something called FER_FONTS.  The LAS configure.pl had been looking only for PLOTFONTS.

This has been resolved with LAS 8.6.3, so you can use Ferret v7.2.  I have removed that note from the LAS prerequisites page.

I'm using Ferret 7.2 and we generally recommend the latest version. Sorry that the documentation tends to lag behind

Not sure what you mean by 7.2 being incompatible with the configure script.

Ferret 6.95 or higher with the etopo05.nc data set and the Ferret environment that goes with the release. (do not use Ferret v7.2, which has an incompatibility with LAS configure script.)

All,

Apache has released a new version of Struts 2. LAS was not (as far as I can tell) affected by any vulnerabilities discovered between 2.5.12 and 2.5.13, but to keep in step with Struts 2 and to avoid any issues if security teams would like to have applications at the latest version, I have made a new release of LAS which upgrades to Struts 2.5.13.
