Remon,We will be making a new Ferret release soon that will fix this problem. In the meantime, if you are running on a 64-bit Red Hat 6 compatible computer you can use the attached Ferret binary instead of the one you are currently using.

Hi Roland, I am also testing the new LAS Version (7.3 with Ferret 6.7.1 and Tomcat 6.0.26) and I get the same error message "The map scale file was not found." in compare mode for many data sets. The debug.txt says in the first line: ferret: gif.c:1005: GIFcellArray: Assertion `num_pt > 0' failed. What can I do? Thank you very much, Regards, RemonOn 09/02/2011 04:50 PM, Roland Schweitzer wrote:Dan, I see where it works on some data sets, but not others. Can you please do the following. 1. Clear out $TOMCAT_HOME/webapps/las/output 2. Run one of the cases where it fails. 3. Tar and compress the contents of the output directory and send it to me somehow. I think Ferret must be crashing before it gets to the the part where it makes the map scale file so I will try to debug based on the files you send. If I can't figure it out I'll walk you through how to run some tests over the phone. RolandOn 09/01/2011 03:13 PM, Oostra, Daniel H. The message ‘The map scale file was not found.’ appears in all 4 boxes of the compare interface and these are the errors in the las.log: Try clearing your output ($TOMCAT_HOME/las/output) directory and restarting your server. Below is a summary of the new features, but as always this release includes a number of bug fixes. We encourage you to move your installations to 7.3 and send your feedback to this list. You can see some nice screen captures of the new vizGal interface here: http://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/LAS/documentation/release-notes-v7-3-august-2011/.Roland and the LAS Team LAS v7.3 (August 2011) With this release we have focused on two area, F-TDS and the vizGal visualization Gallery comparison interface. This version of LAS requires Ferret 6.71 . Install the Ferret executables and environment. F-TDS Fixes and Improvements: Bug fixes and enhancements regarding character varibles. Improved attribute handling so that derived data sets keep as much of the metadata in the original data set as possible. Bug fixes regarding serving F-TDS data sets via the TDS WMS server. Installers that are creating virtual F-TDS data sets can now control which variables appear in the final data set so intermediate variables needed for calculations need not appear in the final data set. vizGal This release reworks the plotting done for the comparison interface to maximize the size of the plots in the frame and moves the plot description to a separate panel. The printing interface will organize all of the plot in the gallery one-to-a-page with the annotations displayed at the top of each page. Several bug fixes relating to the history mechanism. Any vizGal URL should contain the entire state of the gallery and can be shared like any other URL.
