[las_users] LAS support for feature collections in proposed CF discrete sampling geometries

Hi folks,
   Is there any plan to have support  within LAS for feature 
collections (defined in the proposed CF standard for discrete sampling 
geometries)? In here, there is some aversion to spend resources on 
setting up and maintaining a relational database to store in-situ data 
just for LAS. Support for feature collections would make things lot easier.
