[las_users] Make not compiling

Good afternoon all,

We are installing LAS 6.5.2.1.  When running make on the top level
directory, we get the following error (some parts omitted):

[javac] Compiling 111 source files ...
[javac] ...MapGenerator.java:15: error: Class or interface
'javax.imageio.ImageIO' not found in import.
[javac]    import javax.imageio.ImageIO;
[javac]           ^
[javac] (warning)...
[javac] 1 error, 1 warning

BUILD FAILED

Could this be a bad java environment variable?  (We're running java
1.5.0.7.)
