Re: [las_users] Post-install Trouble with LAS

John,

Ok, it's not the problem I was thinking of.
Is your installation on a public machine? If so can you please send (to me or the list) the URL?

I'd also like to know the environment you're running under (system OS and Java release).

uname -a
and
java -version

are good ways to get that information.

Roland,

I installed LAS 6.5.1.2 which is listed as the latest stable version on the download web page.

Thanks for your interest in this problem.

John,

This looks like an old bug. What version of LAS are you trying to install?

Hi All,

I have just installed LAS software and am able to bring up the web interface. However, after I select the data variable(s) from the COADS climatology dataset (that comes with the software), the "next" link (which I believe would take you to a page with the world map) fails with the following error:

<html><head><title>Apache Tomcat/5.5.9 - Error report</title><style><!--H1 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:22px;} H2 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:16px;} H3 {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;font-size:14px;} BODY {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:black;background-color:white;} B {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;color:white;background-color:#525D76;} P {font-family:Tahoma,Arial,sans-serif;background:white;color:black;font-size:12px;}A {color : black;}A.name {color : black;}HR {color : #525D76;}--></style> </head><body><h1>HTTP Status 500 - </h1><hr size="1" noshade="noshade"><p><b>type</b> Exception report</p><p><b>message</b> <u></u></p><p><b>description</b> <u>The server encountered an internal error () that prevented it from fulfilling this request.</u></p><p><b>exception</b> <pre>java.lang.NullPointerException
gov.noaa.pmel.tmap.ExceptionFilter.doFilter(ExceptionFilter.java:40)
</pre></p><p><b>note</b> <u>The full stack trace of the root cause is available in the Apache Tomcat/5.5.9 logs.

Any thoughts on what isn't setup correctly?

This error also occurs when I click on the "constraints" menu item on the left side of the main LAS page.

John
