Re: Sidenote - station data
Adam,
At this point in time neither Ferret nor LAS is able to work with raw
OPeNDAP sequence data. However, there is already an example
TMAPDapper.pm driver that ingests OPeNDAP sequence data from a Dapper
server by launching the OPeNDAP asciival program. So it's a problem
that is mostly already solved.
Here's what it would take to make it possible for the current version of
LAS to work with OPeNDAP sequence data -- You would have to write a perl
based driver (much like TMAPDapper.pm) that is subclassed from
las/xml/perl/TMAP/TMAPDBI.pm. This driver must know how to make an
OPeNDAP request and then ingest lon, lat, time, z and spit out the LAS
intermediate file.
Instructions are here:
http://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/LASdoc/serve/cache/25.html
A generic LAS driver for OPeNDAP sequence URLs would be a very nice
contribution if anyone wants to tackle it.

Thanks again for all of the help so far. We're almost ready to go live.
I was asked this morning to see if we could put the IGRA up on LAS -
is it possible? The station data is accessible via GDS (example:
http://nomads4.ncdc.noaa.gov:9091/dods/IGRA_STATION_RAOBS/425/igra.72327
for Nashville), but when doing a test ingest I receive "Error: DODS
sequence not supported at dds.y line 5".
We're attempting to find some solutions, but that'll take a while due
to number crunching.
Any ideas?
Adam
