Matt,

When regenerating the LAS user interface you will need to provide a login name and password that has permission to drop tables and databases.  This would be the same privileged mysql user that you used when first configuring LAS.  The 'las' user is only for servlet interactions with the database.   For security reasons, this 'las' user has no DROP privileges and cannot be used to update the LAS databases (a.k.a. "regenerate the interface").
