tag name length in XML files

Hello all,

I got a strange error message when running make in LAS server directory

Can't locate object method "getCategories" via package "LAS::CompVar" at
../xml/perl/LASServlet.pm line 2407.

The same kind of message appeared once and I solved the problem by
reducing the length of tags in automatically XML  generated file.
I changed from platform, from sun/solaris to Linux RedHat9. With the
same configuration as before, I get now the error message above.

It appears that I can solve the problem, by adding an XML comment line
just before a long-tag line in one of my XML file (included in las.xml).

Is there a tag length limit ?
