Robin,

Given the error, there are only a few things that can possibly be
wrong.  The error message is almost certainly correct in identifying the
problem as:  "Ferret cannot access the data".  Here are my suggestions:

1) Possible incorrect description file telling Ferret to look for
multiple files.

In the descriptor file you have
   S_START        = 0,
   S_END          = 1,
   S_DELTA        = 1,
   S_NUM_OF_FILES = 1m

However, you only mention one actual data file in the directory.  If
this file has 12 months of data then the descriptor file is probably
OK.  Otherwise, something is amiss.

2) Check the permissions on all the data files.

It is very unlikely there is anything wrong with your .xml files.
