Small areas in LiveMap applet

Hello LAS users,

We've got some datasets that are considerably smaller than
the global datasets typically visualized in LAS.  I've 
replaced the global image with one of the central California
coast and have some datasets that are less .5 deg in extent.

The first Towfish data set at
http://dods.shore.mbari.org/lasMUSE
properly shows the extent of the data in the LiveMap applet,
but the remaining do not - the colored area extends too far
east & west.  Am I encountering a lower limit on the ability
of LiveMap to resolve these regions?  Below is a snippet from
the <axis> tags for the dataset that works for one that 
doesn't:
