The simplest question?

Ferreters,

Its probably in the documentation somewhere, but could anyone
tell me how to avoid having 'ferret.jnl' and 'ferret.jnl.~*~'
files spreading throughout my system? I never end up using them.
Perhaps something be included in .ferret?
