Density sections

Ferreters,

does anyone have a good pointer or approach to producing isopycnic
model output density sections? My data consists of a netCDF file
whos vertical coordinate is density (actually specific volume). I
know there is a nice transformation to plot variable sections vs
pressure or depth rather than "model layer", but here I infact want
to plot the coordinate itself! That is, model layers vs pressure or
depth! Also, I'd like the transformed variable to be a grid so that
it can be shaded or filled; otherswise it would be easy enough to
plot/overlay one curve at a time.

thanks, David.
