Re: [EXTERNAL] Re: [ferret_users] how to show angle brackets in labels/titles

Hi Xiaoyu,

Another option would be to go back to using the Hershey font, and use symbols from the math font or possibly one of the other symbol fonts,

Ryo san,

The first method worked for me after I set color for each label. 😸 Like

set text/font=Helvetica/color=blue

Otherwise, Ferret won't let me use the colored label function.

The second method is a little harder for me because I didn't find some symbols for angled brackets.

By the way, are there some tricks to "draw" a longer line in a label but without really plotting the line?

Say I use

label 0 -12 0 0 .2 - -<OLR>

to label a line (-) using a negative OLR -<OLR>. They both come out as the same length. I am currently using

label 0 -12 0 0 .2 _ -<OLR> to distinguish these two lines.

Let me know if there are better tricks.

Thank you very much and stay healthy,

Xiaoyu

Dear Xiaoyu,

I am using

label 100 -12 0 0 .2 @P4- -<OLR>

to label one variable which is an integral. Turned out to be Ferret processed the brackets as single quotation marks. So it came out as -'OLR'. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

Two solutions.

1. Use a system font:

set text/font=Helvetica
label . . .

2. With the native font, use the character codes.  Look up "font" in the official manual
