Re: [ferret_users] trailing slash in symbol

Hi,
It's an unofficial feature, and we don't have plans to change this behavior.  The behavior does seem to have been around a long time; I'll try to scope out the details and get them documented.

Hi Ansley,

Thank you for the illuminating discussion about the parsing of the slash.

My question is the status of the define symbol command WITHOUT equal sign.  Which is the case

  * [Bug] It's a bug and will be an error in the future.
  * [Unofficial feature] It's not an official feature but will keep
    working in the foreseeable future.
  * [Official feature] It's an official feature.  It's not documented
but will keep working in the future.

?    Even the Ferret documentation includes examples of DEFINE SYMBOL without equal sign.
