Re: [ferret_users] can not save figure in .ps format

Hi Sourabh !
Can you try this ?
use coads_climatology
set mode metafile
fill sst
cancel mode metafile
sp Fprint -p portrait -o test.eps metafile.plt

Dear Fabio, Ryo and Pratik

Thank you for your wonderful suggestions. I tried by opening PyFerret as pyferret -nodisplay from the suggestion of Pratik and can now save the file in ps and eps.

$pyferret -nodisplay
use coads_climatology
fill sst
frame/file=test.ps
frame/file=test.eps

however, the suggestion from Ryo to convert pdf to ps or eps by using Ghost Script is also very useful.

Secondly, the suggestion from Fabio sounds promising because I know Mac is having the capability to do that. I will try it on Mac.

Happy Ferreting

Cheers, Saurabh

Hi Saurabh,

From my experience it’s just fine to rename .ps figures to .eps. Also, if you have your figures already saved in .pdf or .png and you use mac, you can open them on the Preview app, Print (command+P), it will open a window and in the bottom left corner, where it says pdf, click on this box and choose “Save as PostScript”.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Fabio

Subject: [ferret_users] can not save figure in .ps format

Dear Ferreters,

G'day

I am trying to save figure in .ps format but I am getting an error while saving it. I have installed PyFerret from the conda library in a new environment. The version of my PyFerret is 7.5.

use coads_climatology

fill sst[l=1]

save/file=test.ps

**ERROR <class 'AttributeError'>: type object 'QPrinter' has no attribute 'PostScriptFormat'

I am not able to resolve this error.

Most importantly, I need to develop figures for publications so the required format is EPS. Is there any command to get .eps file format with good resolution from PyFerret 7.5?

Eagerly waiting for some help. Thanks in advance.

Cheers, Saurabh
