Re: [ferret_users] Ferret installation error

Hi Asiya,

The contents of your Ferret-7.5.0-RHEL6-64 directory are exactly the extracted contents of the fer_environment.tar.gz and fer_executable.tar.gz files.  So you do not need to do step 1 of the Finstall.  Only do step 2 of the Finstall.  (I see I forgot to include that information for this release; it is now added.)

Thank you,
Karl

 Hello,

Recently I was trying to install ferret and I downloaded these two zip
 files for the same purpose.

 1)Ferret-7.5.0-RHEL6-64.tar.gz
 2)Ferret-7.5.0.tar.gz

After this step --%tar xzf $GET_LOCATION/ferret-7.4-RHEL7-64.tar.gz--,

If I do ls Ferret-7.5.0-RHEL6-64, I am supposed to get

 bin/
 contrib/
 examples/
 ext_func/
 fer_environment.tar.gz
 fer_executables.tar.gz
 go/
 ppl/

 But I don't have 'fer_environment.tar.gz' and 'fer_executables.tar.gz'
 listed in my Ferret-7.5.0-RHEL6-64 directory.

So, When Finstall prompts me for the directory I installed the Ferret
support files if I give complete path to Ferret-7.5.0-RHEL6-64, I get
 this message--

 'fer_executables.tar.gz' is not in
 /home/psanyal/15ms027/new_ferret/Ferret-7.5.0-RHEL6-64

 How to solve this issue?

 Thanking you in anticipation

 Asiya
