[ferret_users] installation error in Ubuntu 18.04

Hi everyone,

I am trying to install ferret in Ubuntu 18.04. I think I have done all the step correctly..

1) I download the ferret-7.4.3.-RHEL7-64.tar.gz

2) I create the ferret folder in /usr/local/

3) I extract the 1) in that folder giving these folders:

bin/, contrib/, examples/, ext_func go and ppl (I also observe that I have 2 tar environment and executable).

4) I create a subfolder fer_dsets where I download and extract the files from the website

5) I extract 1) again but in the downloads folder (/home/estanis/Downloads/ferret/)

6) sudo /usr/local/ferret/bin/Finstall

7) I select 1 in the installation menu

8) I type /usr/local/ferret for the ferret path

9) I type /home/estanis/Downloads/ferret for the location of the fer_executable.tar.gz

Here I obtain an error which says

tar: lib: Not found in archive

tar: Exiting with failure in status due to previous errors

 Aborting -  old style fer_executable.tar.gz

There is a problem  manipulating the files in /usr/local/ferret

Check your privileges...

This is message is a  bit odd because I am using sudo..Thanks so much for your help in advance

Kind regards,

Estanislao
