Hi ferreters,
I would be interested to share strategies or codes to plot from ferret (or pyferret) isosurfaces in google earth.
A colleague made a request on how to represent volcanic concentration isosurfaces nicelly (ie for outreach).
Also I have renewed my interest on Google Earth and have found a GooglePlot toolbox from matplot
that exactly provides what I would like to provide from ferret (https://publicwiki.deltares.nl/display/OET/Matlab+plotting+into+Google+Earth).
I have also found that the marching cube algorithm used to calculate isosurfaces
has been implemented from the scikit-image python module
(http://scikit-image.org/docs/dev/auto_examples/edges/plot_marching_cubes.html).
Now the kml export of polygons is more classic and should not be a difficult part.
I have found several related articles where this approach has been explored and implemented:
*Visualising volcanic gas plumes with virtual globes -2009
https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cageo.2009.02.005
* Isosurface Display of 3-D Scalar Fields from a Meteorological Model on Google Earth - 2013

Any elements or share of existing initiatives on this topic will be welcome.
Regards
Patrick
