Thank you for the report and the example data and script.  We are able to replicate this; it is not unique to PyFerret but seems to be in the Ferret code that is incorporated in both Ferret and PyFerret. We'll look into it.

I installed 7.1 this morning on OSX 10.11.6 but the error remains (I had the same issue on 7.0).
