Hi Hella,
Actually, 'w' is short for 'where'. This is the command that lets
you get back the location on a page that corresponds to a mouse
click. So Ferret is waiting for you to click within the plot box,
and when you do, it will return the XMOUSE and YMOUSE locations, and
go back to the command line prompt.
I see that "SHOW COMMAND W" lists incorrect information. Here's a
little Ferret session - so this is something we should look at.
yes? show command w
WIRE/I/J/K/L/M/N/X/Y/Z/T/E/F/OVERLAY/SET_UP/FRAME/DATASET/VIEWPOIN/ZLIMITS
/TRANPOSE/NOLABEL/ZSCALE/TITLE
yes? show command where
Not a recognized command: where
Use SHOW ALIAS to see alternative command names
yes? show alias w*
Alias Command
----- -------
WHERE PPL %WHERE

Hello ferreters,
typing a single 'w' into the ferret prompt causes ferret to hang.

'w' expands to 'wire'. Apparently, missing data for wire makes
ferret hang. Calling 'plot' without data correctly returns "
**ERROR: invalid command: no data specified".
This happens in Ferret v6.9 as well as v7.022 (beta/debug).
Greetings,
Hella
