Re: [ferret_users] Fwd: station indicator and grid lines on map

Hello Ansley,

Thanks for your suggestion. I have gone through the link provided by you, but it doesn't solve the problem. How can I increase the size of the mark?

I want to include the mark at the two station locations:
Barrow: 71.3N, 156.6 E
Ny-Ålesund: 78.9 N, 11.9 E

Can you also suggest me how to include the text against the symbol representing station name as mentioned above?

For your convenience, I am herein attaching the ferret script and the resulting figure

Look forward to your response and suggestions.
Thanking you,
With best regards,
Madhavan

Hi Madhaven,

A good way to make symbols at particular locations on a plot is the "go polymark" script.  Here is a demo that shows how to call it:  http://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/Ferret/documentation/ferret-polymark-demo

The demo shows stars and squares, but the script can be called with a variety of shapes.  Type

yes? go/help polymark

to see a the documentation that is at the start of the script.  It lists the shapes that are available.

For this I tried sym=dot (script and input file attached). Please let me know if any mistake I am doing in the script.

Actually, I want to include the following stations as symbols:
Barrow: 71.3N, 156.6 E
Ny-Ålesund: 78.9 N, 11.9 E

Can anyone suggest on
how to display light shade grid lines (lat-lon) in the map?

Any other suggestion for better representation is welcome.

Thank
