Hi,

That sounds like the correct solution.  Check the file protection settings on the file that you created.  The unix command Fpalette shows the palettes that the Ferret environment can see.  So if you issue the command:

> Fpalette blue_orange
it should list both  "blue_orange.spk" and  "blue_orange_new.spk" if both of those are in the correct location.

Another issue that can come up is the file format. I don't think this is the problem here, but just to mention it for general information. If a file is edited with a Windows editor and then saved to a Unix drive, it might need converting from DOS to Unix format with the "dos2unix" command.  (That problem would result in a different error message than what you're seeing.)
