Dude!

When you write to this group you are writing to hundreds of busy scientists around the world.

You absolutely should do that for difficult questions .... AFTER YOU HAVE LOOKED THROUGH THE ARCHIVES TO SEE IF YOUR QUESTION HAS ALREADY BEEN ANSWERED.

We have been writing and answering questions in this group for more than 20 years. Most questions - including yours below, I think - are answered there.

When you (or anyone) writes a question, the first words should be "I searched the archives and did not find an answer".

This is not a help desk. There is no staff. We help each other, and enjoy getting challenging questions, but not several times/day.

The archives search page is:

http://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/static/Ferret_search/ferret_mail_archives.html

Looking through there you will find the answers to questions you didn't even know you had.
