Nitin,

Translate it to netCDF.  If it is HDF4, and you have compiled HDF4 with netCDF support, you will have an "ncdump" executable in the HDF4 bin dir.  Then you can do ${HDF4}/bin/ncdump foo.hdf | ${NETCDF}/bin/ncgen -b -o foo.nc.

If it is HDF5, I recommend NCL's ncl_convert2nc; see https://www.ncl.ucar.edu.
