I’d say, although the list is maintained by US government, it is not closed
during this period, so you can go ahead and ask your questions here, anyone
knowing how to help you about your question, not necessarily from the US or
NOAA, might answer it in a timely manner.
I noticed UCAR lists are active regardless of that. You can have an idea by
previous questions and replies who usually knows and help people that are and
are not directly from NOAA (by their e-mail addresses). In a quick look, I’ve
noticed some @gmail addresses in replies, thus you may just give it a shot with
your question and wait for a reply. And if you find the answer before someone
else steps in, please let us know you fixed said problem.
as for the other community means, they might be closed (not sure
it is just the main pages that had their indexes changed or if the sites were
completely redirected to the intermission page), UCAR seems to be completely
normal as of now, even with members of UCAR actively replying to the
lists.
If you need to download something from ferret website, you may ask here if
someone got another copy of it, I think that, if someone else has it, they will
not hesitate in sharing the means to get it.
I am not from US nor associated to NOAA, just an ordinary community
member.

Is the ferret website ok? I've heard that US government has shutdown some of the public
services?
Ferret community will be affected by that?
Thanks in advance.
