[ferret_users] Ferret not recognizing a variable from an input NETCDF

Hi All,

I am having a problem getting ferret to recognize a variable name.

A NETCDF that I'm inputting has a variable called "anthro_dust_0.1". This is the variable name that shows up with I run "show data" on the NETCDF file after loading it into ferret. However, when I try to do any operations on  "anthro_dust_0.1" (as simple as list, for example), I get an error like the following:

"ERROR: variable unknown or not in data set: ANTHRO_DUST_0.1[D=2,X=100:122.5@AVE,Y=22.5:40N@AVE,Z=@SUM, L=61:72@AVE]"

I'm able to successfully manipulate other variables in the NETCDF files that do not contain the decimal point in the variable name. I'm guessing the problem has to do with ferret having trouble parsing a variable name that contains a decimal point. Is this a known problem? If so, how do I get around it? Anyone have an idea of other issues that could cause this problem, if the decimal point is not the issue?

I am running FERRET v6.725 on a Linux 2.6.18-274.12.1.el5 64-bit system.

Thanks,
    Geeta
