I have a script that calculate/plot climatological daily mean and standard deviation in one part of the script. I found a spike on particular date (12 sept - always on same date) and initially thought its because of erroneous data on that date; but closer investigation showed no problem in the data. Finally I am able to get rid of the problem when I increased the memory. I just wanted to share my problem/ solution and wonder if anyone has faced similar problem/ what caused the problem.
I am using ferret v6.72; I have attached the plots with and without spike and also my script. Sorry my script referes to specific datasets. By the way, I had done very similar computation ( but not exactly the same) on different
datasets but there were no problems.
