Re: [ferret_users] ocean basin mask

hi -
Thanks for pointing out this resource, David!  To use the dataset from the Columbia DODS server,
yes?  use "http://iridl.ldeo.columbia.edu/SOURCES/.NOAA/.NODC/.WOA05/.Masks/.basin/dods"
And then you can use the codes on the link David points to to apply the mask you want.
yes? LET pacific2 = if basin eq 2 then 1
...

Hi Peng,

You may start from the basin masks in the World Ocean Atlas:

http://iridl.ldeo.columbia.edu/SOURCES/.NOAA/.NODC/.WOA05/.Masks/.basin/

I would regrid the variable basin to the desirable grid using the transformation @nrst.

Good afternoon,

Does ferret have masks for different ocean basins/Seas (Atlantic,
Pacific, Indian, GOM, ...)?

If not, is there a simply way to create one, using, maybe, coastline data?

Thanks,
