Hi Nuncio,
This is because your environment is not set up correctly.  Ferret looks 
for environment variables to locate data, scripts, fonts and palette 
files.  This error indicates it is not finding the directory where the 
palette files are located - please check the installation directions. 
This would come under "Intstalling support files"
