You should ask the Ferret developers, but according to Ferret's download
page (http://ferret.pmel.noaa.gov/static/Downloads/ferret_downloads.html)
no package is available for your OS-CPU combination.  That is,
although these combinations are available

  OS       CPU
  AIX      PowerPC(PPC)
  MacOSX   PowerPC(PPC)
  Linux    Intel (x86)

there is no Linux-PPC combination.
