Thank you for your reply.  What I did was interpolated to each cylindrical grid point using CURV_TO_RECT by looping over each point.  This takes much too long so I compared to the default method (curv_to_rect then rect_to_curv).  The differences were pretty small...For a temperature of ~300 K, differences of ~0.5 K, much less than 1%.
