Re: [ferret_users] Display problem

Samrat,

| Yes, that is the modification that has been made, but under the
| section "Screen" of xorg.conf. The distro being used is openSUSE
| 11.0, gnome version. In Suse, the section "Screen" comes before
| "Device", while in Fedora the order is reversed. In any case i have
| tried making the modification in "Device" as well. Each time i
| logged out and logged in (as user), but it makes no difference. So i
| am still stuck.

You may be able to check if the backing-store option is enabled by

  $ xdpyinfo

or by examining the X-server log file.

For example, my xdpyinfo says

  . . . . . . .
  screen #0:
  . . . . . . .
  options:    backing-store NO, save-unders NO
  . . . . . . .

because I don't enable the backing-store option.

On the Linux system I use (Debian GNU/Linux), the log file
is   /var/log/Xorg.0.log, which has

  . . . . . . .

  (==) NV(0): Backing store disabled
  . . . . . . .

("NV" is the name of the video driver for my video card.)

Regards,
Ryo
